14 August 2020 – Due to damage caused, two wards were closed which has affected the Emergency and X-ray departments.

Due to damage caused to one of the buildings at the Royal Cornwall Hospital at Treliske on Thursday two wards were closed which has affected the Emergency and X-ray departments.
Patients in the affected areas were safely and temporarily moved to other areas of the hospital and to community hospitals while the damage was assessed and repairs begun.

X-ray facilities around the county are being used and everyone in Cornwall is being asked to avoid coming to the Emergency Department at Treliske or calling 999 unless there is a life-threatening condition.

In the first instance they are asked to contact their own GP for medical advice or treatment or use the 111 service online or by phone.

Cornwall’s Health and Care teams are working hard together to provide the service our communities deserve and deeply appreciate the support they are given at critical times, such as this, when there is increased pressure on services.
