HRH The Princess Royal who is a patron of the Royal College of Midwives (RCM) met with midwives, maternity support workers (MSWs), student midwives and other members of staff at The Princess Alexandra Maternity Wing on Friday (26th July), for royal recognition of the work carried out to improve the unit.

An enhanced Orthopaedic service at St Michael’s Hospital in Hayle successfully went live in January 2019. Since that time, new investment has enabled the recruitment of additional anaesthetists, ward staff, theatre staff, pharmacists and therapists, as well as a new higher care-bay to support patients that would previously have been treated at the Royal Cornwall Hospital.

In fact, we got two, and both went to the brilliant work being done by our paediatric team, recognising the outstanding work they did for Take-Over Day in November 2017, which led, among other things, to the installation of a children’s unit Wonderwall.
