Graduated from Medical school in Leipzig / Germany in 1995. Moved to the UK in 1997 and completed my post-graduate specialist training in Trauma and Orthopaedics in 2006. Completed 3 overseas higher surgical training fellowships in the subspecialty field of Hand and Wrist surgery in Australia and Spain.
Appointed to the Royal Cornwall Hospital NHS trust as a Consultant Hand and Wrist surgeon in March 2008. My special interest area is open and arthroscopic wrist surgery (Keyhole surgery) but in my practice I cover the full spectrum of hand and wrist conditions including injuries such as fractures, tendon and nerve repairs. Microsurgery will become another area where more treatments will be available since a new state of the art surgical microscope arrived in our unit. This will include replantation and soft tissue reconstructive surgery.
I’m a member of the British Society for Surgery of the Hand and involved in research in this field. I have published articles in the peer reviewed journals and my aim together with my colleagues is to start a fellowship program to train future hand surgeons and enhance our research portfolio.
