Has been an NHS consultant in Vascular Surgery at the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust since 1997. He qualified in Edinburgh in 1985, and trained as a specialist vascular surgeon in the internationally renowned vascular units at Glasgow and Edinburgh Royal Infirmaries, before spending some time as a Fellow in Endovascular Surgery at the University of Sydney, Australia.
His practice includes all aspects of arterial and venous disease and he has published widely on a range of vascular surgical topics including endovascular (keyhole) aortic surgery, endovenous surgery, and lower limb revascularisation and amputation surgery.
As well as providing a wide range of minimally-invasive varicose vein treatments he has a particular interest in endovascular (keyhole) aortic surgery, carotid surgery and vascular access surgery for renal dialysis. He was an advisor to the NCEPOD report into lower limb amputation and helped develop the vascular society guidelines on best practice in amputation surgery.
