“It is so lovely for the The Cove to be here to support cancer patients with the support that they offer. I know through personal experience the shock of having a diagnosis and The Cove gives people somewhere to go to help them cope.”
Julie is herself still undergoing treatment and so knows through personal experience the real difference that services provided at The Cove can make. The choice for the club was perhaps even more fitting as one of their members, and close friend of Julie, had recently lost their battle with Cancer.
Funds are raised by the Cornish members club at their various rallies and meets which take place from Easter through to October. A combination of raffles, tombolas and coffee mornings all help to raise funds with the members and visitors giving generously to their chosen cause.
Kathryn Radcliffe accepted the donation and expressed her great thanks to the club and everyone that supported the fundraising throughout the year. She explained how the donation may be used at the centre;
“We have recently been able to fit out our physiotherapy gym with equipment thanks to donations to The Cove Amenity Fund and we are now hoping to expand the services we offer with relaxation and yoga classes for patients and their carers. To run these sessions we will need to purchase appropriate mats and it looks likely that this donation will make that possible.”
“We are so very grateful for support to The Cove Amenity Fund as it allows us to purchase those additional items that make so much difference to the level of service we provide to people in Cornwall,”
she added.
