Festive fundraisers

West Cornwall Hospital, medical and surgical ward colleagues marked ‘National Elf Day’ on Friday by dressing up in support of Alzheimer’s Society UK.

As well as raising funds for the charity, the day was an opportunity to raise awarness of dementia and the support provided by staff and volunteers for patients at WCH. The medical wards at West Cornwall Hospital were the first at RCHT to establish a weekly ‘memory cafe’ and received an ‘Outstanding for Caring’ rating from the CQC earlier this year.

At RCH the Research, Development & Innovation team has been collecting for the Cornwall Birth & Baby Appeal raising over £550 for a neonatal pulse oximeter to be used for research and clinical purposes. Funds were boosted by a visit from the RCHT Choir whose performance entertained patients, visitors and staff.
