Moving online increases participation in public Trust Board meetings

The coronavirus pandemic has changed everyone’s lives and like all workplaces we have had to adapt to social distancing and remote working.  One of the positive impacts has been how more people have been able to join and participate in RCHT public Board meetings since hosting them via the internet.

“We’ve seen a steady increase in people joining the meetings, including our first virtual Annual Public Meeting in September. Now the online format has become the norm and everyone is more familiar with the technology, we are taking the next step of recording our Board meetings so that we can reach even more people,” explains RCHT Chairwoman, Mairi Mclean.

The next Board meeting is on 5th November when among the items being discussed are an update on Covid-19 and the strategic outline case for integration of RCHT and Cornwall Partnership Foundation NHS Trust, as well as the annual report highlighting the expanding research and development activity across the Trust and how this plays such an important role in improving patient care and access to the latest treatments.

The meeting can be joined on Microsoft Teams using this link: and the Agenda and accompanying papers can be found here

The Board meeting recordings will be hosted on the RCHT website – – for one month and then replaced with the recording of the subsequent meeting.

“We very much hope that in the months ahead we’ll be able to invite people back in person, as well as continuing to host our meetings online,” added Mairi “as we know face-to-face connection is still an important way for us to engage with our staff and members of the public.”
