Associate Director of Nursing Liz Trew was there to present the awards alongside Anna Dalziel, HR Business Partner for Medicine. Liz explains:
“This year’s Nurses’ Day celebrations proved to be a real team effort with a fantastic response, both from our staff and from the general public. Everyone taking part this year showed passion and enthusiasm, with nursing teams from across the whole of Medicine, ED and WCH going above and beyond to help promote and celebrate what it is that nurses at RCHT aim to achieve with providing the best possible service for our patients.”
On Wednesday, four awards were given out to the teams and individuals within Medicine that had gone the extra mile to ensure Nurses’ Day 2018 was one to remember and well-represented on social media.
The award for ‘Most Creative’ team tweet was received by Kerensa Ward; ‘Most Humorous’ tweet was won by the team on Wellington Ward; the award for ‘Best Team Tweet’ was given to Phoenix Ward; and a final award was given to Clinical Matron Ian Moyle for his brilliant organisation over the course of the day.
Discussing the Nurses’ Day celebrations last week, Ian said:
“Nurses’ Day is the perfect opportunity to pause and reflect on the care we have delivered over the last year and the innovations in practice we have both led and been involved in.”
Chief Nurse, Kim O’Keeffe said,
“Nurses’ Day is a time to recognise our caring and compassionate nursing teams and the effort made every day to keep our patients safe. Thank you all, you are so, so valued.”
