Pink Wig Events

Pink Wig Events have donated £9000 to the Mermaid Centre and two benches to The Macmillan Cove Centre at Royal Cornwall Hospital. Emma Kent, from Pink Wig Events and a colleague at Royal Cornwall Hospital, donated the cheque and benches to Sarah Zee, Breast Cancer Nurse Specialist, and Kathryn Radcliffe, Macmillan Cove Centre Manager.

Pink Wig Events started in 2009 to wish their Founder and dear friend, Sally Hicks-Wood, well on her pending treatment for breast cancer. The decision to all wear pink wigs was made to make everyone laugh and smile. Since then, Pink Wig Ladies Night has grown beyond all expectations and in 2016 850 ladies attended the evening, which now starts Falmouth Week! The ladies start with a parade through Falmouth town led by The Falmouth Marine Band, Betty Stoggs and Mable Moobs. This is followed by an evening of dancing and fun in The Events Square in Falmouth.

Emma said, “Sadly Sally passed away in 2015 but the committee are determined to continue her legacy and hope be able to support both local and national breast cancer charities. To date Pink Wig Events has raised £75,000 and this year it has been our pleasure to be able to donate £9000 to The Mermaid Centre and 2 benches to the newly opened Cove Macmillan Centre.”

Sarah Zee said, “I am honoured to be able to accept this cheque on behalf of The Mermaid Centre and would like to say a massive thank you to all the ladies who have taken part. This event is an amazing tribute to their dear friend Sally and Pink Wig Events has achieved so much for Breast Cancer Care.”

Kathryn added, “The 2 benches are situated in between The Cove Centre and The Mermaid Centre and has already made a tremendous difference, allowing both staff and patients a quiet place to reflect and relax away from a clinical environment.”

This year’s Pink Wig Event is on Friday August 4th and further information and tickets are available at Tickets are £13.50 and include a welcome drink. Ladies can wear fancy dress or just wear a circus themed tee shirt – but of course all that is essential is the pink wig!

So ladies, get your tickets and come along and have a great night out whilst raising vital funds…..
