Post COVID Syndrome Assessment Service

About this service

This service has been established to support people with long COVID, also known as ‘Post COVID syndrome’.

The team has established single point access into the service and a pathway based on the latest guidance. People referred into the service will be assessed virtually, triaged for further investigations and/or onward refer to the most appropriate service.

What is Post COVID Syndrome?

Signs and symptoms that develop during or after an infection consistent with COVID-19, continue for more than 12 weeks and are not explained by an alternative diagnosis. It usually presents with clusters of symptoms, often overlapping, which can fluctuate and change over time and can affect any system in the body.

Recovery from Coronavirus will take time. The length of time needed will vary from person to person and it is important not to compare yourself to others. Ongoing symptoms could last for several months after you contract COVID-19 and this can be perfectly normal.

Contact your GP for referral to the Post COVID Service

If your symptoms continue or recur beyond the initial recovery of COVID-19 infection, your GP can refer you into our Post COVID Syndrome Assessment Service. They may suggest some tests to find out more about your symptoms and rule out other things that could be causing them.

Your COVID Recovery

As you find yourself recovering from COVID-19 you may still be coming to terms with the impact the virus has had on both your body and mind. These changes should get better over time, some may take longer than other, but there are things you can do to help. Your COVID Recovery helps you to understand what has happened and what you might expect as part of your recovery.
