We have a highly experienced and dedicated team of four consultants and a number of specialist renal nurses, dieticians and support workers.
Our services include dialysis, kidney transplants and helping patients manage their disease. We also look after patients with kidney stones, systemic vasculitis, electrolyte abnormalities or people who have injured their kidneys.
Our main dialysis unit is at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro. We also have satellite units at West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance and at Bodmin Hospital. See the toggles below for more details.
The renal unit at the Royal Cornwall Hospital offers holiday dialysis. We are running a reduced activity than we have in the past because of covid effects on our slot availability. As restrictions have been lifted, patients are keen to make travel plans, but concerns continue about rates of COVID-19 infection across the UK. We currently have slots only at the Truro site. Hopefully in time we will expand our activity back to pre-covid times with opportunities for holiday dialysis both in Truro and in Penzance.
We open up the following years slots in the 1st November each year. Until that date we cannot confirm any booking.
The unit can be approached by either the dialysis unit where patients regularly attend, or directly at rch-tr.cornwallholidaydialysis@nhs.net.
Dialysis shifts are morning, afternoon and evening.
The Renal Unit is in the admin corridor of the Tower Block at Royal Cornwall Hospital in Treliske, Truro.
