The aim is to create an environment and culture where mothers can continue to breastfeed whilst returning to work. This includes improved conversations with managers and co-workers, easy to access space/facilities to express and store milk, and allowances for temporary changes to working arrangements to enable the employer and employee to both meet business and breastfeeding needs.
It has been identified that workplace barriers contribute to low rates of breastfeeding. At RCHT we want to overcome these barriers and are looking to identify rooms across that Trust that can be used by women who wish to breastfeed.
When these rooms are identified they will be graded and mapped. The map will be available to staff, patients and visitors for quick identification of the nearest suitable space.
