We wanted to say a big thank you for saving my wife’s life

“We wanted to say a big thank you for saving my wife’s life,” said Andrew.

After Pat Harvey from Par received care for Breast Cancer at Royal Cornwall Hospital, she and her husband Andrew along many friends in the local community wanted to give something back so they held a party at The Par Inn and raised £2000 for The Mermaid Centre and The Cove Centre Amenity Fund.

“We were thoroughly impressed with the care from start to finish. Being able to have a cuppa in The Cove and chat to the volunteers and other patients in similar situations was a real help and I also attended a Look Good, Feel Good afternoon,”said Pat

“I would advise anyone to make sure that they check themselves regularly – catching it early is key. I was seen very quickly and looked after and reassured all the way through my treatment.”

Sarah Zee from The Mermaid Centre echoed these thoughts around the importance of being breast aware and attending screening.

Sarah also explained how The Mermaid Centre team are currently looking to purchase a specialist program which will allow the team to show patients a computer generated image of how they will look following their surgery which will be invaluable in giving accurate outcomes to patients at what can be a very difficult and troubling time.

Thanks go to everyone that attended and supported the fundraiser with special mentions to Matt Bailey, Landlord of The Par Inn and Andy Stephens, auctioneer for the evening who was pivotal to the raising of such a great total.

The total raised on the evening topped up through a donation from the FAC Group of businesses, whom Andrew & Pat Harvey are Directors.
