Lowen Ward

Lowen Ward is an 18 bed ward that specialises in looking after haematology, oncology and palliative patients. We also care for patients who need to be isolated and have seven side rooms especially for this purpose.
We have a wide range of speciality nurses and also work alongside community partners and community nurses. The staff are happy to meet with patients and relatives at any time, but we do advise booking an appointment to make sure the right person is available. We also suggest that one person is nominated to call the ward for updates and act as the patient’s single point of contact.

Each week the Citizen’s Advice Bureau and the Benefits Advice teams visit the ward to provide advice and guidance to our patients.

Ward facilities

The ward has access to Wi-Fi. Laptops and mobiles are allowed (as long as users are respectful of other patients – it’s a good idea to bring headphones).

We have a number of side rooms that have their own TV and fridge/freezer. We also have a day room with a coffee machine and TV and a quiet room with a TV, X-box and PlayStation.

We are also able to have a relative or friend stay on the ward if patients are being nursed in a single room.

Visiting Lowen Ward

Open visiting on all wards is between 10am and 8pm, 7 days a week

Visiting outside these times can be discussed with the nurse or midwife in charge. See our Visiting Policy.
