Josh and his now fiancée Gabrielle Hughes, both from Falmouth have been together for 3 years and upon finding out they were expecting Hudson, Josh started to plan his proposal.
“On the day of Gabrielle’s baby shower, I went ring shopping with my best friend, unbeknown to her!”
When Gabrielle went into labour, Josh’s sister came in to hand Josh the ring, as well as the bib that she had helped him to buy. Josh had already informed all the midwives of his plan, which he was hoping to do after she had given birth in the Birthing Centre. Unfortunately, due to complications, Gabrielle was taken to the Delivery suite to have an emergency caesarean.
The following morning, Josh took Hudson away to ‘get him ready’ with the help of a midwife and when he returned to the room with him, he passed Hudson wearing his bib to Gabrielle. Once Gabrielle had read his bib, Josh got down on one knee and popped the question.
“It took me a while to notice what was written on Hudson’s bib! I was completely surprised and felt very emotional when I said yes”
Josh and Gabrielle stated they hope to get married in a few years’ time, when Hudson is old enough to be page boy.
Josh expressed how grateful he was to all the midwives for the care they have given both Gabrielle and Hudson, as well as for their help in setting up this special surprise.
“All of the midwives who have been in on the surprise have been to see us and find out how the proposal went, we have been really touched with their care and support”
Congratulations to both Josh and Gabrielle on their engagement and on their new bundle of joy, Baby Hudson!
